Technology

General

Technology and engineering have been major parts of my life for as long as I can remember. Below, you will find the languages that I have gotten to know over the years, a couple of projects that I have completed, as well as my experiences with technology throughout my life.

Alongside all of the more formal events down below, I also do a lot of hobby projects in my own time. You can find my project logs here and my code here.

Mentionable Events

Pingree Robotics – Captain (2015)Worlds Photo

I joined the Pingree robotics team back when I was a lowly freshman, and have loved every second of it. Back when I joined, we would be extremely happy if we got even one of our teams to regionals… this year, we went to worlds for the second time in a row. Next stop: bring back the world champions trophy

maerkmill-2The Makermill – Teacher (2015)

The Maker Mill is a local makerspace near my house in North Andover. Inside the Maker Mill, there are a couple of 3D printers, a fantastic laser cutter, and enough legos to make a house. As a teacher there, I taught students anywhere from elementary to high school on lessons about programming, game design, 3D designing and printing, laser cutting, robotics, soldering and other electrical engineering skills.

socrato_1Socrato – Mobile Developer (2015)

Socrato is a company that specializes in creating diagnostic reports for standardized test takers. As a developer, I created an app for students that would enable them to time their sessions with built in presets, as well as automatically record their times so that when they went to review their tests, they could not only see how the scores progressed, but how the times progressed as well.

HackRPI – Most Marketable Award (2014)hackrpi_modified

My team and I participated in a Hackathon at RPI (for those who don’t know, a hackathon is basically to develop an app within a certain amount of time, in this case, 24 hours). My teammates and I created an app which allowed for users to quickly glance at the news while they were working, so that they could stay informed, but wouldn’t get distracted and lose their productivity. At the end of this hackathon, our team won the “Most Marketable Award.” You can check out our code here.

ekobuzzEkobuzz – Email Designer (2013)

Ekobuzz is a company that specializes in email marketing to clients. I worked in building a couple of their email templates that they used in their company.

digizapDigiZap – CTO and CoFounder (2012)

Bored one summer in 2012, my friend and I had a great idea. We were being forced by our families to scan our photos and digitalize them, for safe keeping’s sake. We thought that for people who don’t have children they can use as slaves, that this task is basically undoable, as the startup cost and labor time is just not worth it. As a response, we started up a service where we scan physical photos and return digital copies.

Programming Languages and Skills

Over the years, I have messed around with many different languages. This is simply a list of the languages that I know and have used:

  • Python
  • Java
  • PHP
  • JavaScript
  • MySQL
  • RobotC
  • Arduino (C port)
  • OpenScad
  • Swift
  • MATLAB

Alongside programming, I have also tinkered a lot with engineering and graphic design, and in doing so, I have picked up a few skills along the way. Here are a bunch of skills and programs that I have gotten to know over the years.

  • Autodesk AutoCad
  • Autodesk Inventor
  • MATLAB
  • Inkscape
  • OpenScad
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Laser Cutting (the process of making a design into a cut)
  • 3D Printing (ditto for laser cutting)
  • CNC Milling (you know the trend)
